Khadija J. Head spoke at PHCC CONNECT 2026, and she and Odari Head appeared on the cover of the Fall 2026 issue of PHCC Solutions. Read what leadership, legacy and industry service mean to Head's Plumbing.

Head's Plumbing was in the spotlight at PHCC CONNECT 2026 in Milwaukee. Khadija J. Head, a contractor member and board member of PHCC of Georgia, shared her expertise as a conference speaker, and she and Odari Head appeared with Karen Hill of HM Plumbing on the front cover of the Fall 2026 issue of PHCC Solutions, with a company feature inside.

Here is what these moments mean to us, in Khadija's words.

On Stage at CONNECT: Willing & Able

Khadija presented alongside Kathryn Jacobs in "Willing & Able: The Hidden Formula Behind High-Performing Teams."

My conversation with Kathryn Jacobs was about challenging traditional thinking around leadership, talent, and what it takes to build successful teams in the skilled trades.

I want the industry to recognize that talent does not always arrive through conventional pathways. There are extraordinary people with transferable skills, diverse professional backgrounds, and different perspectives who can make meaningful contributions to our industry.

As a former collegiate basketball coach who transitioned into leading a plumbing company, I understand firsthand that leadership skills are not confined to a particular profession.

We must be willing to look beyond traditional qualifications, recognize potential, and create environments where people have the opportunity to develop and succeed.

"Some of the greatest talent in our industry may come from people who never imagined themselves working in the trades. Our responsibility as leaders is to recognize potential, create opportunity, and develop people."

On the Cover of PHCC Solutions, Fall 2026

For Odari and me, appearing on the cover of PHCC Solutions represents more than professional recognition.

Head's Plumbing is a third-generation, Black-owned family business celebrating 45 years of service. Our company represents decades of dedication, craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, and the determination to build something that lasts beyond one generation.

We want homeowners to understand that when they choose Head's Plumbing, they are choosing a company built on experience, professional standards, accountability, and a commitment to long-term relationships.

For the industry, I hope our story demonstrates that family-owned businesses can preserve their legacy while embracing innovation, strengthening their operations, and creating opportunities for the next generation.

"Representation matters because you cannot always imagine what is possible until you see someone who looks like you doing what you once believed was impossible."

"Legacy is not simply about how long a business has existed. It is about what each generation builds, what it preserves, and the opportunities it creates for the generation that follows."

Serving on the PHCC of Georgia Board

Serving on the PHCC of Georgia Board of Directors is both a responsibility and an opportunity to influence the future of our industry.

I believe business ownership comes with an obligation to contribute beyond the walls of your own company. We have a responsibility to advocate for professional standards, support workforce development, and help create opportunities for those who will lead this industry after us.

Our participation in PHCC reflects our commitment to protecting the integrity of the plumbing profession while helping ensure that the next generation has access to meaningful, sustainable careers.

"Success in business is important, but our impact should extend beyond our own companies. We have a responsibility to help strengthen the industry that has provided opportunities for our families."

Georgia's Moment at CONNECT 2026

PHCC of Georgia also brought home national recognition from CONNECT, including the 2026 Legislative Excellence Award for its work to prevent unlicensed individuals from advertising licensed trade services. We are proud to be part of an association that works to protect the public and support legitimate contractors.
